Horst Lohse

Horst Lohse (born March 16, 1943 in Kulmbach ) is a German composer .

Life

After training at the University of Education in Bayreuth (1964–67), Horst Lohse worked in Mainleus near Kulmbach as a primary and secondary school teacher and as a choir director from 1967–70 . 1970–72 he studied violin with Jürgen Geise and Hermann Kienzl and composition with Helmut Eder at the Salzburg Mozarteum . At the same time, he completed a degree in elementary music education at the Orff Institute of the Mozarteum with Wilhelm Keller , Hermann Regner and Barbara Haselbach. He attended master classes with Bogusław Schaeffer and the Austrian Ensemble for New Music . In 1972 Lohse moved to the University of Music in Würzburg . There he studied music theory and analysis with Klaus Hinrich Stahmer and composition with Bertold Hummel (1975/76 as a master student ). 1972-2005 he taught music model elementary school classes in Bamberg. From 1977–84 he was a lecturer at the University of Music in Würzburg, from 1987–93 he was a juror and lecturer at the composition courses of the Jeunesses Musicales in Weikersheim . In 1986 he was one of the founders of the “New Music in Bamberg” association, which he chaired in 1991. 1986-2010 he directed the days of new music in Bamberg .

Horst Lohse lives in Memmelsdorf . In addition to his musical work, he and his wife Sabine look after the artistic estate of his father-in-law Caspar Walter Rauh . Lohse's compositions are published by Edition Gravis .
