Kaikias

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kaikias ( Greek  Καικίας ) is in Greek mythology the god of the northeast wind and thus one of the anemoi (wind gods). He is depicted as a bearded man with a shield full of hailstones, for example on the Tower of the Winds in Athens .

The name is derived from the river Kaïkos in Mysia , or the river god of the same name .

The Romans used the transliteration Caecius as the name of the corresponding wind . Occasionally, Volturnus appears, but it was used competitively to designate a southeast wind.
