Irene Kurka (* 1974 in Darmstadt ) is a German soprano .

Life

Irene Kurka studied singing with Reri Grist ( University of Music and Theater Munich ) as well as with Barbara Hill Moore (Meadows School of the Arts / Southern Methodist University , Dallas , USA ) and Nancy Hermiston ( University of British Columbia ( Vancouver , Canada )). She completed master classes a. a. with Emma Kirkby and Maria Jonas. In addition to music theater and oratorio roles, she is particularly interested in contemporary song; numerous works were premiered by her.

Irene Kurka sings with and in the following groups: e-mex-ensemble, notabu-ensemble Düsseldorf, Cologne vocal soloists, Pegnitzschäfer-Klangkonzepte , ensemble chronophonie, Schlagquartett Köln , La Tenerezza (with Katja Beisch, recorders; Johanna Seitz, baroque harp; Christoph Anselm Noll , Keyboard instruments), Duo Klangvoll (with Barbara Lechner, guitar), Socell 21 (with Burkart Zeller, violoncello) and sopracordion (with Stefan Hippe , accordion).
