Wilfried Krüger (born December 20, 1947 in Diedrichshagen near Greifswald ) is a German horn player and initiator of music and art projects, especially in the field of new music.

Life

After studying horn with Erich Penzel and Fritz Huth at the music academies in Cologne and Würzburg , Wilfried Krüger became a member of the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker , and later principal horn of the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra . He worked as a lecturer at the Meistersinger Conservatory in Nuremberg .

In 1981/82 he was a founding member of the Pegnitzschäfer-Klangkonzepte , since 1986 he has been responsible for their artistic direction, conception and organization. Since 2001 he and his ensemble have been organizing a series of concerts for new music in the New Museum in Nuremberg . At the same time he is active in the group of authors' music (horn, double bass, piano, electronics, dance) and in the TonVision association (literature, music, visual arts, theater). Krüger lives in Nuremberg.

Professional activities

Wilfried Krüger had engagements with the symphony orchestras in Siegen, Recklinghausen and Düsseldorf and had been principal horn with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra since 1974 . In 1979 he founded the Horn Quartet of the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and the Nuremberg Trio with Sophie Hagemann and Ernst Gröschel. He made over 100 recordings for the Bavarian Radio with chamber music and solo concerts, including the serenade for tenor, horn and orchestra by Benjamin Britten , "Des canyons aux étoiles" for piano, horn and orchestra by Olivier Messiaen and the concerto in E flat major for Horn and orchestra by Franz Anton Rösler , known as Rosetti. He also played the world premieres of numerous works composed for him, including a. by Dieter Schnebel , Werner Heider and Gerhard Stäbler .

In 1982 he gave concerts a. a. at the concert series "Musica Antiqua" in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in historically informed performance practice on natural horn , together with Ernst Gröschel, fortepiano . He was also a horn lecturer at the Music Academy for 20 years at the Meistersinger Conservatory in Nuremberg and was curator of the chamber ensemble work "Codex" in 2001, for soprano and ensemble by Christoph Staude (music), in 2006 at the oratorio "Kohlenmonoxyd" by Karola Obermüller (music) and Gabriele Strassmann (text) and in 2011 for “demnach”, a developed quartet for horn solo and action group with skateboarders , concrete mixers and vacuum cleaners by Gerhard Stäbler (music) and Frank Schablewski (text). In 2008 he was a co-founder of the group "Autormusik" in the "Realtime Hall" in Munich.
