Wolf-Dieter Trüstedt (born August 3, 1939 in Berlin ) is a German artist. He conducts research and works on the phenomena of light and sound , develops acoustic and electronic musical instruments , music and abstract films . Wolf-Dieter Trüstedt is an avant-garde artist and “one of the engines of the Munich independent scene” and was a member of the “ New Group ”.

Life

Wolf-Dieter Trüstedt studied physics at the Technical University of Munich and received his doctorate in 1969 under Heinz Maier-Leibnitz . He then continued his research on solid state physics at the Department of Physics at the Technical University of Munich in Garching. From 1973 he was freelance in art and science and made numerous contributions in instrument making, in art and science (including 1971 Experimenta Frankfurt, 1984 Phenomena Zurich), artistic projects and teaching ( Ulm University , Berlin University of the Arts (HdK ) and the University of Music and Theater Munich ) and the establishment of the musical center of the University of Ulm (MUZ).

Professional activities

After his first scientific work at the Department of Solid State Physics at the Technical University of Munich in Garching, Wolf-Dieter Trüstedt turned to the scientific study of the phenomena of sound and light and their artistic design, but was also concerned with passing on his findings. In 1979 this led to collaboration at the Free Music Center in Munich and from 1986 to 1990 the project “Music in Prevention and Therapy” was developed in the Department of Cultural Anthropology and Science Research at the Ulm University Hospital . In 1984 Wolf-Dieter Trüstedt was invited to Ulm by Helmut Baitsch and Gerlinde Sponholz from the Phenomena in Zurich . There he began making instruments, which he had already practiced. First, in the studio of the School of Design of Nick reeds , then in Dornstadt near Ulm and finally in the Arts Center of the University of Ulm - opened in 1991 MUZ huts built. From the idea of ​​eliciting sounds from instruments and experimenting with these sounds together, the IBUEMU was founded in 1985, from which the group EMU was formed, which Wolf-Dieter Trüstedt took over. In addition to this activity, he also took on projects at the Ulm Art School for Young People from 1990, and from 1991 to 1995 a teaching position at the Berlin University of the Arts (HdK) with Hans Roericht (industrial design). From 1991 he taught at the University of Ulm in the field of music experiments at Renate Breuninger's Humboldt Study Center , and from 2007 to 2017 he designed the seminar for electronic music in theory and practice with Michael Weber (media informatics). From 1992 Wolf-Dieter Trüstedt also taught and worked at the University of Music and Theater in Munich and became a co-founder of the “Real Time Hall” in Munich and its group “Author Music”.
