Violeta Dinescu (born July 13, 1953 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian pianist , composer and university teacher . Her most important work to date is the children's opera Der 35. Mai, based on the novel Der 35. Mai or Konrad rides in die Südsee by Erich Kästner , which premiered in 1986 at the Nationaltheater Mannheim and has since been performed in numerous opera houses in German-speaking countries.

Romania

Violeta Dinescu began studying music in 1972 at the Ciprian Porumbescu Conservatory in Bucharest, where she passed her state examination with distinction in 1976, as well as three diplomas in composition , piano and pedagogy . She then deepened her composition studies with Myriam Marbe . In 1978 she received a teaching position at the George Enescu Music School in Bucharest for music theory , aesthetics , counterpoint , harmony and piano. In 1980 she was accepted into the Romanian Composers Association. The first concert performances, radio recordings and composition prizes followed.

Germany

Violeta Dinescu has lived and worked in the Federal Republic of Germany since 1982. In 1986 her first opera Hunger und Durst nach Eugène Ionesco was premiered in Freiburg. Since 1986 she has been a lecturer at various German universities and since 1996 she has held a professorship for applied composition at the University of Oldenburg , where she organizes colloquia with composers. a. with Jean-Luc Darbellay and Graham Waterhouse .
