Joseph Gallus Rittenberg

Joseph Gallus Rittenberg (born June 24, 1948 in Linz ) is an Austrian photographer, set designer and painter.

Career

Rittenberg grew up in Gallneukirchen and has lived in Munich since 1977. His photographs have been shown at exhibitions in Berlin, Paris, Vienna and New York and have been published in magazines (e.g. Süddeutsche , Die Zeit and der Spiegel ) since the 1980s . Portraits are one of the main focuses of his work. His photographs by the writers Thomas Bernhard and Werner Schwab , Friederike Mayröcker and Ernst Jandl became famous .

Private

Rittenberg's mother is the contemporary witness Hanni Rittenschober (* 1921), whose life was honored by Franzobel in a play that premiered in 2020 .
