Witold Szalonek
Witold Szalonek (born March 2, 1927 in Czechowice-Dziedzice , † October 12, 2001 in Berlin ) was a Polish composer .
Vita
Szalonek studied piano from 1949 to 1956 at the Katowice Music Academy with Wanda Chmielowska and composition with Bolesław Woytowicz . He took part in the Darmstadt summer courses and was a student of Nadia Boulanger in Paris from 1962 to 1963 . In 1956 he became an assistant, 1966 professor and 1972 rector. At the invitation of the German Academic Exchange Service , he was artist in residence in the early 1970s and from 1973 professor at the University of the Arts in West Berlin . In the following years he gave seminars and courses in Poland, Denmark, Germany, Finland and Slovakia.
He composed mostly chamber music works in various casts as well as works for various solo instruments, a cantata , a ballad for two choirs and other choral works, songs and drama music.
