Marc Lingk (born March 5, 1964 in Berlin ) is a German composer and software developer .

Life

Lingk, the son of a porcelain wholesaler, grew up in Paris , France. He attended the international school there and received musical training in the areas of piano , solfège , harmony , drums , synthesizers and trombone . He studied physics at the Technical University of Berlin and completed a degree in composition at the Berlin University of the Arts . His teachers were Witold Szalonek , Dieter Schnebel , Frank Michael Beyer and Wolfgang Rihm .

In his compositional work Lingk combines computer science , technology , physics and music . Numerous compositions have been created for very different instrumentations, styles and areas of application, such as B. Chamber music , electronic music as well as orchestral works and mixed forms. He composed pieces of music for the concert hall, theater, dance theater and film music, electronic and computer-based interactive sound installations. For example, in 2001 he composed the music for the directing project Villa dei Misteri by Ivan Stanev in the Sophiensaele in Berlin, and in 2007 the music for the Czech stilt theater project Phalanx Bamboo at the International Theater Festival in Potsdam .

At the German Film and Television Academy Berlin , he set several films to music, including three films by director Detlev Buck .

The Modern Art Sextet played several world premieres by Marc Lingk in Berlin. In 1994, as part of the Berliner Haiku concert series, Lingk's composition Mandelröschen for flute , clarinet , violin , viola , cello and piano was premiered . Further performances took place in the Meistersaal and in the Konzerthaus Berlin . In 1995, Sextett was premiered , also for flute, clarinet, violin, viola, cello and piano in the Meistersaal Berlin. In 2005, Lingk's composition Ratatouille and Spiegelei , also for flute, clarinet, violin, viola, cello and piano, was premiered in the Konzerthaus Berlin as part of the Netze / Schatten concert series .

Illusions fétiches was performed in 1997 by Ensemble United Berlin .

In April 2006 he founded the music group Electronic Luck . In 2007 he performed with Elektronisches Glück at the Fusion Festival in Lärz . Lingk played regularly with the Electronic Luck project in the following years. In February 2016 a performance took place in the MIME Center Berlin in the Künstlerhaus Bethanien together with the dancer and choreographer Ingo Reulecke .

With the Mexican artist Erick Meyenberg he developed a spatial, sound and music installation with texts by Rosa Luxemburg for the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) in Mexico City in 2007/08 , which is shown there as a permanent exhibition. In 2008 he composed and programmed the interactive music for the Sala Agua for the 2008 Expo in Zaragoza .

In March 2009 the world premiere of Lingk's composition TimeFreeze for Quartet took place in the Berlin BKA Theater as part of the concert series Unerhörte Musik . The composition was also performed in May 2009 at the Long Night of Chamber Music in the Brandenburg Theater . In 2009 he performed in the context of contemporary music concerts in the ohrenstrandmobil in Berlin's main train station .

In 2009 he also developed the sound installations for the performance Translux - Through the Light , which was performed as part of the Festival Theaterland Steiermark . In 2010 he won the Operare Prize; the work he conceived, JudoOper , a "sporty music theater", was performed several times in the center of Berlin Central Station .

In autumn 2010 he exhibited the work Sonnengesänge , a solar sound installation, developed together with the artist Marlen Liebau , as part of the exhibition Zur Imahmung Recommended , which took place in the Uferhallen in Berlin-Wedding . This exhibition then went on a world tour for 8 years.

In 2011, as part of an international workshop, developed the ballet Transition together with the choreographer Gaetano Battezzato with electronic music . In 2015, the premiere of the ballet SchwanenSeele with music by Marc Lingk took place at the Cottbus State Theater .

In 2016, in collaboration with the painter Boriana Pertchinska, the sound object SprachBox , an interactive sound art object, was created. In 2017 Pertchinska and Marc Lingk presented an exhibition in the Sredez Gallery in Sofia .

He worked with Ulrich Krieger, Yoriko Ikeya, Ensemble Modern , Wladimir Jurowski , Hans Zender , Friedrich Goldmann , Ingo Reulecke, Klaus Schöpp (Modern Art Ensemble), Marlen Liebau and Boriana Pertchinska.

Marc Lingk has performed as an electronic musician, keyboardist / pianist, trombonist, speaker / singer in the formations Orpheus, ExtremQuartett, Blackout, Session03, Electronic Glück, Überknot and CubanoElectro.

Software development

Lingk developed its own software tools, AudioVirtualityProductions, C ++, PD-Patches, public products: TimeFreezer, TimeWorm (successors to the groove modulator). At the Expo 2008 , the Sala Agua pavilion was soundproofed by him as an interactive film, which won the “World Media Festival Prize” for it. The TimeFreezer is used by numerous musicians around the world. B. from Tangerine Dream , Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode .
