Albrecht Mayer (born June 3, 1965 in Erlangen ) is a German oboist .

Life

After studying with Gerhard Scheuer , Maurice Bourgue , Georg Meerwein and Ingo Goritzki as well as his membership in the Bavarian State Youth Orchestra , Albrecht Mayer became principal oboist of the Bamberg Symphony in 1990 . Since 1992 he has held the same position with the Berliner Philharmoniker .

As a soloist he has released several CDs. Recordings were made with the Berlin Baroque Soloists, the Sabine Meyer wind ensemble and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra . In search of his ideal sound, he founded the ensemble New Seasons . In addition to solo projects, he also devotes himself to chamber music . a. Nigel Kennedy and Hélène Grimaud . Accompanied by the Berlin Baroque Soloists , Albrecht Mayer made his debut in New York's Carnegie Hall in November 2007 . In 2008 he was Artiste Etoile at the Lucerne Festival . Albrecht Mayer also played works with his oboe that were written for other instruments. Examples are his CD Songs without Words with Bach transcriptions and his album New Seasons with Handel transcriptions, which even made it into the German pop music - Charts managed. His CD On Mozart's Footsteps with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Claudio Abbado stayed in the German Classical Charts for months and was also included in the best list of the German Record Critics.

Mayer used to play on a Green Line oboe made by the French manufacturer Buffet Crampon , and since 2009 on an oboe or oboe d'amore that he developed with the instrument maker Ludwig Frank and manufactured by the Mönnig brothers .
