Upper Franconia Foundation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Upper Franconian Foundation in Bayreuth was founded in 1927 by the forerunner of the Upper Franconian district . The then Upper Franconia district, chaired by the Lord Mayor of Bamberg , Adolf Wächter, set up the foundation with assets of 6 million Reichsmarks . From 1919 to 1928 Wächter was President of the District Council of Upper Franconia. During this time, the district expanded the nationwide power supply . The participation of the district in the overland works generated some profit. On February 11, 1927, this was transferred to a foundation for the promotion of exclusively charitable purposes in the field of people's welfare with special consideration of the social conditions of the population . This district foundation is run today under the name of Oberfrankenstiftung . The establishment of the foundation was intended to prevent the district's assets from flowing into the more populous areas on the other side of the district in the event of a possible amalgamation with Central Franconia .

In accordance with its statutes, the foundation awards grants as a support foundation exclusively in the area of the administrative district of Upper Franconia.
