Caspar René Hirschfeld

Caspar René Hirschfeld (born May 21, 1965 in Wernigerode ) is a German composer and violinist .

Life

Caspar René Hirschfeld received his first violin lessons at the music school from the age of 5. He began composing at the age of 9. From 1982 to 1987 he studied composition with Udo Zimmermann and Wilfried Krätzschmar and violin with Christian Redder at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden . Until 1989 he was then a master student of Udo Zimmermann. Other important mentors were Paul-Heinz Dittrich , Gret Palucca , the dancer Thomas Hartmann and the painter Günter Firit.

Hirschfeld taught from 1987 to 1994 at the Dresden University of Music and the “Hanns Eisler” University of Music in Berlin . He also worked for the ACMP Foundation in New York and the Rheinsberg Music Academy . In addition to being a composer, he appeared in the 1990s as a dancer and performance artist as well as a pianist and accompanist .

Hirschfeld's compositional work includes music theater, ballets, symphonic, choral music, chamber music, solo works and songs as well as tangos and jazz cycles. In 1991 his chamber opera Bianca was premiered at the Salzburg Festival . His compositions have been played in numerous countries in Europe and around the world. In 2005 his work Wandlungen V - Double Concerto for Violin, Violoncello and Orchestra in Magdeburg Cathedral was awarded the Kaiser Otto Prize to the former Federal President. D. Richard von Weizsäcker premiered.

Hirschfeld also gives concerts as a violinist, primarily with baroque music (including in the Albert / Hirschfeld Duo with guitarist Sebastian Albert) and contemporary music.
