Kaiser Otto Prize
The Kaiser Otto cultural foundation awards the Kaiser Otto Prize of the City of Magdeburg to personalities "who have rendered outstanding services to the European unification process, particularly with regard to the Central, Eastern and Southeastern European states".
It was awarded for the first time in 2005 on the occasion of the city's anniversary and every two years in future. The name of the non-endowed award recalls the merits of Otto the Great . The winner of the award receives a representative certificate and a bronze medal. The front of the medal shows a relief of the current winner. The reverse bears the inscription "Kaiser-Otto-Preis der Stadt Magdeburg". The medal is designed by the Halle sculptor Bernd Göbel .
