Benjamin Lang

Benjamin Lang (born November 14, 1976 in Wetzlar ) is a German composer , musicologist and conductor as well as professor of music theory .

biography

Benjamin Lang studied at the Rostock University of Music and Theater , the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media , the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana in Lugano and the University of Edinburgh . His teachers include Adriana Hölszky and Johannes Schöllhorn in composition , Peter-Manfred Wolf, Martin Messmer, Hubert Moßburger, Andreas Gürsching and Florian Edler in music theory and Giorgio Bernasconi in conducting .

Benjamin Lang received a scholarship from the Evangelisches Studienwerk Villigst from 1998 to 2004 and from the International Theater Academy Ruhr in 1999 . From 2008 to 2011 he received the College Research Award for an artistic research scholarship at the University of Edinburgh.

Benjamin Lang also attended master classes with Martin Eybl on reduction analysis and seminars with Georges Aperghis , Reinhard Febel , Hans-Joachim Hespos , Klaus Huber , Hans Peter Kuhn , Dieter Mack , Thierry de Mey and the Ictus Ensemble .

In 2004 and 2005, Benjamin Lang took on his first pedagogical courses at the Deutsche SchülerAkademie Grovesmühle and the Deutsche JuniorAkademie in Meisenheim . This was followed by teaching positions at the Bremen University of the Arts , the Rostock University of Music and Drama , the Institute for Music at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences , the Leuphana University of Lüneburg and the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media .

Benjamin Lang has been teaching at the Zurich University of the Arts since 2010 , where he was appointed professor for music theory and composition in 2014. In 2016, he was appointed professor for composition and music theory at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin . Since the 2018/19 winter semester he has been teaching as a professor of music theory at the Rostock University of Applied Sciences.
