Hans-Joachim Hespos

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans-Joachim Hespos (born March 13, 1938 in Emden ) is a German composer and publisher of his works.

Life

Hans-Joachim Hespos - coming from a musical family - received violin lessons since 1946. He made his debut in a public concert in 1948 at the age of ten. First attempts at composition followed in 1950. After graduating from high school, Hespos studied education at what was then the University of Education in Oldenburg. From 1962 to 1984 he worked in the school service. Since he left the civil service, Hespos has been working as a freelance artist based in Ganderkesee .

Since 1967 he has received numerous composition commissions from home and abroad as well as composition prizes and honors. His works, which Hespos has published in his own publishing house since 1978, are performed all over the world. As early as 1969 he founded the concert series 11.11 new music in delmenhorst , which was followed by other projects such as Kulturreibe Hoyerswege , zentrum aktueller kunst (1982) and wiese GmbH, inspiring field for tests (1993).

As a scholarship holder at the Villa Massimo in Rome (1972–1973), Hans-Joachim Hespos dealt extensively with contemporary music. In 1984 he lectured at the international summer courses for new music in Darmstadt. From 1990 to 1991, Hespos was a visiting professor at the University of the Arts in Bremen . From 1997 to 1999 he headed the project workshop for expanding composition at the Rostock University of Music and Theater . Together with the visual artist Jürgen Engel, Hespos founded the Universitaere Manufactur Com-Position e. V. (UMAC), which ended its activities on December 31, 2008.

Since 1991 Hespos has been a member of the Free Academy of the Arts in Hamburg . In 2005 the Akademie der Künste (Berlin) set up the hespos archive , and the magazine OPERNWELT chose the opera iOPAL, a composition commissioned by the Hanover State Opera, as the opera premiere of the year.

position

As a self-taught composer , Hespos does not value any kind of conformity. His work can hardly be classified. So far he has composed over 200 works for solo, chamber music, ensemble, orchestra, choir, radio, electroacoustics, film, electronics, stage, scene. What the works have in common is that they are based on extreme musical situations. Above all, his imaginative word creations are known. In SYRENE , for example , playing instructions include expressions such as screechingRISSscratch , dry and quiet , knocking , or creating crazy, cluttered echo vibrations with rich damping play .
