Christian-Protestant profile
According to the basic understanding of the organization for the promotion of talented students, lived Christian faith is not limited to the personal sphere. Rather, it is up to each individual to exercise their own Christian responsibility, especially in the social sphere. The scholarship holders and former scholarship holders of the Evangelisches Studienwerk should meet this requirement in their social position, be it in politics , business , church , culture or the administration of justice .
Funding programs
The Schabtenförderungswerk differentiates between different funding programs, each of which includes "funding in the material and non- material sense".
For the basic funding, in which most of the scholarship holders participate, high school graduates and university students can apply up to the third semester (time of application). Contact with the Evangelisches Studienwerk is established through personal application, not necessarily through recommendation. After a successful application, the scholarship holders participate in the funding for the duration of the entire course without a trial period . For the requirements of an application and the application process, see below.
The Evangelisches Studienwerk offers special funding for doctoral candidates from all disciplines. This program currently includes around 200 scholarship holders. The funding is initially for two years, but can be extended to three years upon request.
The scholarship for refugees is aimed at students with refugee experience who study at German universities. Students of all religions and beliefs can apply. Seminar program
The so-called summer university , which takes place annually, forms the main focus of ideal support through seminars and interdisciplinary events . This includes seminars lasting several days, most of which are held at the headquarters of the Studienwerk and the Evangelical Academy in Meißen . The seminars take place in parallel to each other in August and September. The summer university deliberately pursues an interdisciplinary approach and a specifically scientific approach to the topics covered. It is also open to outsiders who can take part in the seminars. It is prepared annually by the scholarship program committee on a selected main topic.
In addition to the summer university, there are regular specialist conferences , doctoral student meetings and events in cooperation with other gifted sponsorship organizations or companies .
Participation of the scholarship holders
An important principle of the Studienwerk is the consistent participation of the scholarship holders in all areas of the Studienwerk. Scholarship holders are represented in the selection committees, prepare seminars and specialist conferences and are active in university groups , the convents, at the universities . In particular, however, the scholarship senate has the opportunity to actively participate in what happens and the discussions in the Studienwerk. The scholarship holders are also directly represented in the office, on the supervisory board and in the board of trustees of the Evangelisches Studienwerk. Furthermore, there are various scholarship working groups that focus on individual topics, as well as the scholarship magazine Brühwürfel .
care, support
Personal study support is part of the funding. For this purpose, the Studienwerk is represented by liaison lecturers at every university location. In the Studienwerk itself, a study director is assigned to each university location who maintains personal contact with the scholarship holders.
Obligations of the fellows
Scholarship holders undertake to take part in an introductory free time, to work in public relations and to prepare regular semester or annual reports.

The registered non-profit association is supported by the Protestant regional churches in Germany. The scholarships are paid using funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The seat of the administration is in Haus Villigst near Schwerte. Application and selection process
The application for a scholarship is open to all members of a Protestant regional church who are studying at a German university in their third semester or less or who are about to begin their studies. Exceptions to this require a separate justification. After receipt of the speculative application, which includes a letter of motivation and a résumé as well as various reports from ( university ) teachers as well as on professional suitability and social commitment, the applicants are invited to local pre-selection interviews with representatives of the Studienwerk. Subsequently, some of the applicants attend a two-day main selection at Haus Villigst, during which a decision is made based on group discussions and one-on-one interviews about whether the applicants will be eligible for funding. Admission takes place without a trial period for the duration of the entire course.
For doctoral students, in particular, a swiftly completed and above-average degree is a prerequisite for applying for a scholarship. On the basis of the written application, which in particular must contain a detailed description of the doctoral project, and a personal interview, a decision is made about acceptance into the doctoral grant.
