Margot from Renesse

Margot von Renesse , née Gericke (born February 5, 1940 in Berlin ), is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1958, von Renesse studied law at the University of Münster , which she completed with the first state examination in law. After the subsequent legal clerkship and the second state examination, she worked as a judge at the district and regional court in Bochum from 1972 .

In 1997 doctors diagnosed Parkinson's disease . She is the second chairwoman of the German Parkinson Association e. V.

Margot von Renesse is married and has four children, including the social judge Jan-Robert von Renesse .

Political party

She has been a member of the SPD since 1969 and was involved in the SPD's Legal and Internal Affairs Commission from 1976. She was also a member of the SPD district executive committee for Western Westphalia.

MPs

From 1990 to 2002 von Renesse was a member of the German Bundestag . Here it was from 1992 to 1994 deputy chairman of the commission of inquiry processing of history and consequences of the SED - dictatorship from 2000 to 2002 Chairwoman of the Study Commission on Law and Ethics of modern medicine . She also represented her parliamentary group in the negotiations on the Civil Partnership Act . For this she received in 2006 together with Volker Beck the Zivilcouragepreis of CSD Berlin .

Margot von Renesse entered the Bundestag via the North Rhine-Westphalia state list.
