criticism
In May 2010, the magazine Der Spiegel against the German Parkinson Association (dPV) charged it with the influence of the pharmaceutical industry and the waste of donations. According to press reports, the expenses for the office of the Federal Association in Neuss amounted to € 1.1 million in 2008, more than 58 percent of the total expenses. In the past, the dPV has repeatedly been criticized. The former Federal Treasurer of the Parkinson's Association, Ernst Geweke, also called for more transparency. Der Spiegel describes a nationwide network of around 2000 bank accounts as dubious. The managing director and board of directors of the dPV defend themselves against the allegations and received several declarations of cease and desist and a counter-statement about the managing director's salary: This was "more than 46% lower" than the gross amount of 200,000 euros stated in the mirror. The Spiegel article, which has been shortened by almost two sentences, is still online.
The new discussions were triggered in mid-2010 by a black book dPV , and in early 2011 the allegations were by no means cleared up.
Since 2004, the association no longer has the donation seal of the German Central Institute for Social Issues . In order to obtain the donation seal, a maximum of 35 percent of the total expenditure is allowed for advertising and administrative expenditure.
