Liat Himmelträger , bourgeois Liutgart Himmelträger-Nohl (* 1956 in Stuttgart ) is a German opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

Liat Himmelträger received her training from Margarethe von Winterfeldt in Berlin and from Judith Beckmann at the Hamburg University of Music . She owes important impulses for the song interpretation to Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Aribert Reimann . In 1988 she and the pianist Axel Bauni won the prize for modern song design at the BDI cultural association. In long-term engagements at the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich and at the Augsburg Theater , as well as at the Cologne Opera House , she sang almost all of the major roles in the lyrical mezzo, working with directors such as Jean-Pierre Ponnelle , Peter Konwitschny , Peter Baumgardt and Brigitte Fassbaender . She is married to the writer Andreas Nohl and has three children.

Liat Himmelhub performed at various European festivals, including a. in Donaueschingen, Schleswig-Holstein and Davos, in the Center Pompidou Paris, at the Cantiere d'Arte in Montepulciano , the Berliner Festwochen and the Expo 2000 . She is particularly interested in contemporary music: She has premiered numerous recent works and recorded them for radio or on CD. The recording of the Sappho chants by Hans-Jürgen von Bose with the Ensemble Modern under Peter Eötvös was selected by the German Music Council for the CD documentation "Music in Germany 1950-2000".

In addition to her artistic work, she taught at the Augsburg University of Music from 2004 to 2014 (from 2008 Leopold Mozart Center ). Since 2008 she has been teaching at the Nuremberg University of Music .
