House of the City (Düren)
The Haus der Stadt is a cultural multi-purpose building in Düren , North Rhine-Westphalia , between Fritz-Erler-Strasse and Stefan-Schwer-Strasse in Düren-Nord .
At the end of the 1980s the building was completely rebuilt by the city of Düren in what was then the largest redevelopment area in North Rhine-Westphalia (North Düren). Christoph and Brigitte Parade, Düsseldorf, were the architects.
The complex includes the public library Düren , the youth center "Multi Kulti" (carrier: Evangelical community), the community center Düren-Nord, meeting rooms and a technically well-equipped theater . There are also offices of the Düren city administration here.
The town's house opened on September 30, 1991. After the opening of the new building, the previous town hall in Bismarckstraße was closed a short time later. It was demolished in May 2015.
In this house, the more than 100 year old tradition of Düren as a theater city is continued. After the city theater in Düren , the performances took place in the auditorium of the collegiate high school and partly in the city hall in Düren.
