Prasqual ( proper spelling : PRASQUAL ; bourgeois Tomasz Praszczałek ; * 1981 in Jelenia Góra , Poland ) is a composer , sound architect , conductor , pianist and director .

Life

Prasqual studied composition with Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Music Academy in Poznan . In 2005 he graduated with honors. This was followed by postgraduate studies in composition with York Höller in Cologne and Manfred Trojahn in Düsseldorf, electronic composition with Hans Ulrich Humpert in Cologne, conducting with Rüdiger Bohn in Düsseldorf and piano with Klaus Oldemeyer in Cologne. Prasqual took composition courses with Brian Ferneyhough , Péter Eötvös , Mark Andre , Christian Wolff and Karlheinz Stockhausen . He was a scholarship holder of the DAAD , the Deutsche Bank Foundation , the Kunststiftung NRW and the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The focus of his work are opera and stage projects, electronic music , microtonality and the movement of music (s) in space. In the 2018 summer semester and 2019 winter semester, Prasqual was a lecturer at the Musisches Zentrum of the Ruhr University Bochum .

Prasqual lives and works alternately in Cologne , as a scholarship holder in the artist village Schöppingen and as artist in residence in Posen .
