Andrea Ihle

Andrea Ihle (born April 17, 1953 in Dresden ) is a German opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

She completed her vocal studies at the Dresden University of Music , where she was mainly a student of Klara Elfriede Intrau. In 1974 she won 2nd prize at the International Robert Schumann Competition for Piano and Voice in Zwickau .

In 1976 she made her debut at the Dresden State Opera in the role of Giannetta in the opera L'elisir d'amore by Gaetano Donizetti . Since then she has been a permanent member of the ensemble of the Dresden State Opera and was initially known there primarily as an interpreter of parts from the coloratura soubrette. Her stage repertoire included roles such as Despina in Così fan tutte , Papagena in Die Zauberflöte , Ännchen in Der Freischütz , Gretel in Hansel and Gretel , Marie in Der Waffenschmied , Carolina in Die heimliche Ehe and Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier . In the further course of her career, Ihle also took on parts from the repertoire for lyrical soprano. She sang Eurydice in Orpheus and Eurydice , Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni and Alice Ford in Falstaff .

Ihle's other roles were Axinja in Lady Macbeth von Mzensk (1999 Dresden State Opera; revived December 2000) and the female title role in the opera Der Schuhu und die flying princess by Udo Zimmermann . Later on, there were also roles in the character subject, such as the card opener in Arabella (new production 2005).

In February 1985 she sang the role of Ännchens in the opera Der Freischütz in the opening performance of the rebuilt Semperoper ; the day after she took on the role of the maid Marianne Leitmetzerin in the gala performance of the opera Der Rosenkavalier . She later sang the role of the lead butcher in 2000 and 2002 in the respective revivals of the opera. In 2007 she sang the leading butcher at the Dresden State Opera as part of the Dresden Festival in honor of Richard Strauss . In 2007 she sang the ticket opener in Arabella again during the Dresden Festival . In May 2006 she took over the small part of Mrs. Charlton in the European premiere of the opera Dean Man Walking by Jake Heggie at the Dresden Opera . In May 2008 she performed at the Dresden State Opera as Matilde Di Spelta in the world premiere of the opera La grande magia by Manfred Trojahn . In the 2010/2011 season she sings again among other things as the card opener in Arabella , the housekeeper Berta (Marzellina) in The Barber of Seville and the Virtù in L'incoronazione di Poppea .

Ihle made international guest appearances mainly with the ensemble of the Dresden State Opera, including in 1982 as a milliner in Der Rosenkavalier in Venice . She made several guest appearances as the maiden Marianne Leitmetzerin at the Staatstheater Nürnberg , most recently in 2008. In April 2010 she made guest appearances at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Ortlinde in the opera Die Walküre .

In addition to her work as an opera singer, Ihle was also known as a concert singer in oratorios , masses and sacred vocal works.
