Dominik Susteck

Dominik Susteck (born October 3, 1977 in Bochum ) is an organist and composer .

biography

From 1998 to 2005 Susteck studied church music , music theory , composition and organ at the Folkwang University in Essen and at the music academies in Cologne and Saarbrücken . He passed the 2nd state examination for school music at the Wuppertal study seminar and taught for two years as a teacher at a grammar school in Overath. From 2002 to 2007 he taught music theory and organ at the Episcopal Church Music School in Essen, and in 2006 as a lecturer at the Folkwang University. From 2009–2012 he was a lecturer in music theory at the Robert Schumann University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf , in 2010 also at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar , and since 2016 he has been teaching at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne.

Since 2007 Susteck has been a composer and organist at the St. Peter Art Station in Cologne. As the successor to Peter Bares , he improvises a concert on the organs for new music every first Sunday of the month . Unlike Bares, which is based on Gregorian chant , Susteck incorporates the latest techniques into his improvisations , which he got to know from Nicolaus A. Huber in Essen, among others . In succession to Bares, Susteck organizes concerts of new music at Sankt Peter as well as the annual festival for contemporary organ music orgel-Mixturen . Susteck performs, among other things, the respective composition commissioned by the composer in residence at Sankt Peter. As an interpreter of new music, he played for the Saarländischer Rundfunk , WDR and Deutschlandfunk, among others .
