Thomas Körner (writer)
Thomas Körner (* 1942 in Breslau ) is a German writer .
Life
After being expelled in 1945, Thomas Körner grew up in the Dresden area . From 1961 he studied medicine and law in Berlin (East) ; from 1963 he wrote experimental poems, stage works (including libretti for Friedrich Goldmann and Paul Dessau ) and prose. As a long-term project, he started a “fragment novel”, which aims at a critical “analysis of the nationalized utopia” in the GDR. At the same time he worked as a nurse, window cleaner and assistant judge. In 1980 he fled to Germany . The director Peter Zadek , with whom Körner worked as a dramaturge at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg from 1985-88 , and the composer Adriana Hölszky , with whom he created joint musical theater works, became important dialogue partners . Today, Thomas Körner lives as a freelance author, librettist, translator and dramaturge in Unterschüpf ( Baden ).
