Wilfried Maria Danner

Wilfried Maria Danner (born April 24, 1956 in Duisburg ) is a German composer .

Life

From 1974 to 1983 Danner studied composition at the Folkwang University in Essen in the master class of Hans Werner Henze and electronic composition with Hans Ulrich Humpert at the Cologne Music Academy . He completed his training with other composers of the 20th century such as György Ligeti in Darmstadt, Olivier Messiaen in Paris and Luciano Berio in Siena as well as at the IRCAM Institute (Center Pompidou) in Paris.

Teaching positions have taken him to the University of Duisburg , the Universidad Rio Piedras in San Juan and Puerto Rico / USA, the Sorbonne in Paris and the conservatories in Brussels and Geneva. In 1988 he received the Rome Prize of the German Academy Rome Villa Massimo . In 1989/90 he was " Composer in Residence " at the Hamburg State Opera , and from 1990 to 1995 at the Deutsche Oper Berlin . His compositions have been performed in many German cities as well as in Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy, France, Spain, Sweden, South America and the USA. Wilfried Maria Danner lives in Cologne today.
