Mario Davidovsky
Mario Davidovsky (born March 4, 1934 in Médanos ; † August 23, 2019 ) was an Argentine composer .
He studied with Guillermo Graetzer , Teodoro Fuchs , Ernesto Epstein and Erwin Leuchter in Buenos Aires , and later with Aaron Copland and Milton Babbitt at the Berkshire Music Center in Lenox , Massachusetts . In 1959 he received the BMI Student Composer Awards . At first he taught music in Buenos Aires, later at the University of Lansing / Michigan . He then became Professor of Composition at the Manhattan School of Music and Vice Director of the Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center in New York City . In 1971 he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize. In 1989 he received the SEAMUS Lifetime Achievement Award . The American Academy of Arts and Letters and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences accepted him as a member in 2004.
In addition to orchestral and chamber music, Davidovsky mainly composed electronic music .
