Rolf W. Stoll

Rolf W. Stoll (* 1951 in Donaueschingen ) is a German musicologist.

biography

Stoll first completed a teaching degree and later studied musicology and ethnology in Tübingen. From 1974 to 1980 he worked as a primary and secondary school teacher. 1980 to 1987 he studied musicology and ethnology at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen .

From 1989 Stoll was head of the magazine publishing division at Schott Music. From 1993 to 2017 he was also the publisher and editor-in-chief of the Neue Zeitschrift für Musik , from 1999 to 2017 he was also the managing director of Schott Music & Media GmbH (labels WERGO for contemporary music, INTUITION for jazz and TUITION for pop).

From 2014 to 2017 he was head of the “Information & Media” publishing division (including the development of digital media) at Schott Music.

Stoll published books and articles on the music of China , the music of the Renaissance ( Guillaume Dufay ) and contemporary music. He is the producer of around 350 CDs and publisher of more than 40 publications on music education and contemporary music (edition neue zeitschrift für musik ).

For the further development of the WERGO label , he received the German Record Critics' Prize in 2013.
