action

Thomas Zabel actually wanted to go on a men's vacation in a Swedish holiday home by the water with his two friends Malte and Jens for his 40th birthday. But the coexistence of the three men turns out to be more difficult than expected. The fact that Thomas is a chain-smoking cynical hypochondriac and that they have brought all of the problems they fled from into the remote nature doesn't make the situation any easier. As a translator of operating instructions for luxury cars, Thomas finds himself at a dead end and does not know what he wants from the future. Malte, a car dealer hungry for life, is Thomas' best client and is on the verge of bankruptcy. Jens, on the other hand, is a conflict-averse driving instructor and adulterous father who cannot decide between his lover Karin, who is traveling to Sweden after him, and his wife Marion. In addition, the beautiful Swede Malin, who works in the only supermarket in the area, turns everyone's heads.

Reviews

“(TV) comedy about men who do not want to look the future in the eye so as not to obscure their view of their youth, whereby the solidly played, thoroughly entertaining film is only moderately rebellious, rather fast and predictable in the traditional way (Life and love) conventions. "

“Thanks to the strong trio of actors, frequent filmmaker Matthias Tiefenbacher [...] succeeded in creating a comedy with many funny, but also thought-provoking moments in front of a wonderful natural backdrop. Gernot Gricksch took care of the successful script. "

“Seen in this way, you shouldn't expect any psychological refinements from 'Freewheeling Men' and, despite the scenery, you shouldn't expect any knitted sweater interiorities. Here, the arguments are more from the stomach and lumbar region, frustration and stagnation of the urge to cause one or the other gruesome involvement. In its better moments, the ARD production is reminiscent of the buddy psycho clothes from Judd Apatow's forge ( men's trip ), in its worse moments of an overly long Mario Barth joke. "
