A cuckoo child of love is a tragic comedy by Martin Enlen from 2005. Lisa Martinek plays the leading role as the wife of Dirk ( Tim Bergmann ), who, as it turns out, is impotent. She is given the idea by a friend to put a cuckoo child on him.

Anabel, owner of an antique shop, is actually having a satisfactory marriage with Dirk, who is financially independent, in a wonderful apartment in an old building, the only thing missing is a child.

Despite many efforts, no offspring simply wants to recruit. It turns out that Dirk is biologically incapable of fathering children.

But instead of informing her husband about this fact, she prefers to let him continue to believe that it is up to her that the two cannot have children. Anabel gets the advice from a friend to just put a cuckoo child on Dirk, because he would not notice it. At first not particularly convinced of this idea, Anabel then decides to take a trip to Mallorca with her friend to get pregnant by one of the many beautiful men there. Once there, however, Anabel learns that she is only turned on with low-level slogans. She decides it won't work that way. She definitely wants to have a child, but the conception should at least be characterized by a certain level. This plan is later completely discarded and Anabel travels back to Berlin with her friend.

Coincidence would have it that, back in Berlin, she was obtrusively flirted in a bar. When her friend Clemens realizes that these advances are uncomfortable for her, he stands between Anabel and the pushy bar-goers. Clemens is involved in a fight in which he pulls a bleeding wound. When she then gives him makeshift medical care, she gets into a love affair with him and also has sex with him. When Anabel consults her gynecologist days later, she learns that she is pregnant.

Only now does she realize what was actually still missing in her marriage to Dirk. At this point, the question arises for her whether to take her friend's advice.

A cuckoo child of love was first broadcast on May 2, 2005 on ZDF. The working title was cuckoo child . In France the first broadcast took place on June 8, 2006 (there under the title Un bébé, deux papas! ).

Reviews

The film reviews are mostly moderate: Rainer Tittelbach sums up that "[...] the [film] sometimes seems just as inharmonious as the life of its heroes." He also notes that the actress Lisa Martinek "[...] [saves] this emotional mountain and valley ride."

TV Spielfilm is of the opinion that “[s] teril ... is not just poor Dirk, but also the humor. After all, it's nicely photographed. ”The conclusion there is:“ Damn it: nice pictures, lame jokes ”.
