The successful crime writer and former detective inspector Balthasar Berg has to go on vacation to Sylt because he has writer's block and his agent Oliver Renner is of the opinion that it would go away on vacation. Now he is sending the author to his former mother-in-law Hermine Kanfely in Sylt. When Balthasar takes a walk through town and on the beach, he finds a body on the beach, Charlotte Fenlo, the owner of the local chocolate factory. The ex-detective notifies the police and his investigative instinct is awakened. He finds out that the cause of death is chocolate from his own company.
