Too early to die is a German television film by director Lars Becker , who also wrote the screenplay . Fritz Karl and Nicholas Ofczarek play the leading roles in the prequel to the film Unter Feinden , also directed by Becker .
action
The two police officers Erich Kessel and Mario Diller are observing two drug dealers. After a wild chase, the dealers are in a car accident. While one of them, Jamel, escapes and is followed by Diller, Kessel finds a bag with 30 kilos of cocaine in the accident car with the second, dying dealer . He withholds the cocaine that he later wants to sell in order to use the money to finance the treatment of his epilepsy daughter and an expensive operation. He also hopes to use it to save his break-up marriage.

Too Early to Die was first broadcast on Arte on August 27, 2015 . The broadcast on ZDF on November 9, 2015 saw 4.26 million viewers, which corresponds to a market share of 13%.
In March 2017, ZDF announced that filming for a sequel to the film had started on March 3, 2017 under the working title To Die Too Early II - Reich or Dead . On February 16, 2018, this film with the broadcast title Reich oder tot was broadcast for the first time on Arte in prime time.

Rainer Tittelbach judges To Die Too Early as the “perfect police film” that is “top cast”. Ulrich Feld from the Frankfurter Neue Presse sees the film as "a [] gloomy [] character study with harmonious milieu coloring and gaudy action scenes", which is the "masterpiece" of director Lars Becker.
