The presentation of the German Television Prize 2016 took place for the first time on January 13, 2016 in the Rheinterrasse in Düsseldorf . After the television prize was not awarded in 2015, the founders agreed to hold the award again at an industry meeting. Unlike previous awards, it was not televised. Instead, a 30-minute summary of the award ceremony was shown at EinsFestival on January 14, 2016 at 9:45 p.m.

For the first time, Barbara Schöneberger moderated the 17th award of the German Television Prize .
