The presentation of the German Television Award 2019 took place on January 31, 2019 as part of an industry meeting for the third time in the Rheinterrasse in Düsseldorf . The 20th presentation of this award was moderated for the fourth time in a row by Barbara Schöneberger , for the first time together with Steffen Hallaschka .

The award ceremony was broadcast live on the Internet on the WDR website . That same evening, One showed a two-hour recording at 10:30 p.m.

The WDR was in charge of the organization for Das Erste under the responsibility of TV director Jörg Schönenborn .

Honorary award of the donors

With the honorary award, the donors of the German Television Prize honored a person for their services in film and television. The winner was announced before the award ceremony on January 23, 2019: Jürgen von der Lippe was honored for his life's work.

Sponsorship / young talent award

The advancement award for the next generation, endowed with 10,000 euros each, was given to Lena Urzendowsky for her role in the satire The Great Rudolph and Michelangelo Fortuzzi for his performance in Alles Isy .
