German television award 2008

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The tenth presentation of the German TV Prize , moderated by Thomas Gottschalk , took place on October 11, 2008 in Cologne and was broadcast on ZDF one day later, on the evening of October 12 . In 2008, 79 productions or people competed for the award in 22 competition categories.

controversy

Marcel Reich-Ranicki caused a stir when he turned down the Donors' Honorary Prize in recognition of his work on the literary program Das Literäre Quartett . “I do not accept this price. [...] I don't belong in this series, " said the then 88-year-old literary critic, who described the nominated series concepts and shows as " nonsense " and left the stage without the award after moderator Thomas Gottschalk spontaneously promised him a discussion program on the subject of television would have. According to his wife, he last took the prize with him. On Sunday he told the AP news agency on request that the producer Katharina Trebitsch had taken the price into custody and that he definitely did not want it. On October 17th, a discussion program on television with Marcel Reich-Ranicki and Thomas Gottschalk was actually broadcast. The title read: "On the occasion - Marcel Reich-Ranicki in conversation with Thomas Gottschalk."
