Michael Coldewey (born October 11, 1962 in Munich ) is a German film producer and director . He is the founder and managing partner of the Munich Trixter Film GmbH and Trixter Productions GmbH & Co.KG .

Life

education

As a student, Michael Coldewey worked as a projectionist in the Munich arthouse cinema "Studio Solln" and during his studies at the Augsburg arthouse cinema "Liliom". After high school and basic military service, he first completed a one-year training course at an art school and then studied design at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences with a focus on animation.

Film projects before Trixter

After completing his studies, he was part of the crew of the film Peterchens Mondfahrt as an animator . In addition, he used a privately purchased Silicon Graphics machine to familiarize himself with computer animation and, as his first work for ZDF, he created the trailer for the broadcast of the ice hockey world championship in 1993, in which he first implemented stylistic elements from classic animation using 3D computer animation techniques . Various commissioned work for television editors and advertising films followed.

In March 1995 he founded the animation studio Munich Animation together with Eberhard Junkersdorf and directed the animated film Die Furchtlosen Vier together with Junkersdorf and Jürgen Richter . During the production he got to know Simone Kraus . After completing the work, Coldewey went to Montreal to direct the science fiction cartoon Heavy Metal: FAKK² together with Michel Lemire and then returned to Munich.

Working with Trixter

In 1998, Coldewey founded the animation studio Trixter Film GmbH in Munich with Simone Kraus and with the initial support of Wim Wenders , where he took on the role of producer.

Among other things, he is responsible for 26 episodes of the animated series Hexe Lilli and the German / French co-production of the film Die Drachenjäger . He produced, among other things, the movies Lilli the witch - The dragon and the magical book , as well as Lilli the witch - The journey to Mandolan and At the end of a far too short day . As an executive producer for visual effects , he was involved in the movies Ninja Assassin , Wickie and the Strong Men , Percy Jackson - Thieves in Olympus , Captain America - The First Avenger , Marvel's The Avengers , Iron Man 3 and the television series Wolfblood - Metamorphosis at full moon

Coldewey now lives in Munich, Los Angeles and Berlin.
