Benjamin Sadler
Benjamin Sadler (actually Benjamin Klimaschewski , born February 12, 1971 in Toronto , Canada ) is a German actor .
Life
The son of the German graphic artist Baldur Klimaschewski and the British teacher Jill Klimaschewski spent the first five years of his life in Canada. In 1976 he moved to Germany with his parents. He completed his studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London . His acting career began in 1994 in the television series Drei zum Verliebe in which he was seen in eleven episodes as Robert Holler, followed by appearances in well-known crime series such as Faust , SK-Babies and Wolffs Revier . In 1997, Sadler worked as Stefan Ahlbaum's writing pool employee in 21 episodes of the television series girl friends .
He also took on roles in movies, for example in 2001 in the German-Italian co-production Maria Magdalena , where he was seen as John the Baptist at the side of Maria Grazia Cucinotta and Danny Quinn . In 2002 Sadler took part in two other film adaptations that included religious themes. In the drama The Bible - The Apocalypse , he stood in front of the camera with Richard Harris and Christian Kohlund and in the German-British coproduction Luther with Joseph Fiennes , Peter Ustinov and other stars of European film. In the period film Augustus - Mein Vater der Kaiser he played the young version of the title character of Augustus, played by Peter O'Toole .
In addition, since 1998 he has worked as Junker Friedrich von Kuhlbanz in two films in the children's series from the Spuk series, namely Spuk aus der Gruft and Spuk im Reich der Schatten from Günter Meyer's Spooky Trilogy .
In 2006 Sadler was seen in the anti-war film Dresden as a doctor and fiancé of the nurse Anna Mauth, played by Felicitas Woll . The film about the air raids on Dresden in February 1945 won several German film awards. In the same year Sadler also worked in the disaster film The Downfall of the Pamir by Kaspar Heidelbach , with whom he had already worked together in 2003 in the two-part historical film The Miracle of Lengede .
In November 2007, the ARD two-parter Contergan was shown , in which Sadler was the affected father and lawyer suing for damages. He then took part in a discussion within the political talk show tough but fair on ARD, where the topic was discussed controversially. For his portrayal in this film, Sadler was awarded the special jury prize at the 2007 Bambi Awards, as did his colleagues Katharina Wackernagel and Denise Marko .
In January 2008, Sadler appeared in the historic television miniseries War and Peace in the role of officer Fyodor Dolokhov. In the same year he played alongside Bettina Zimmermann in the RTL adventure film The Hunt for the Treasure of the Nibelungs, an archaeologist. In 2009 he was Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach in the film adaptation of the family chronicle Krupp - A German Family on ZDF . From 2011 he was in four episodes of the TV series Tatort as Jan Liebermann, the man with whom the Commissioner Charlotte Lindholm, played by Maria Furtwängler , falls in love. In the 2012 broadcast international thriller Passion of Brian De Palma embodied Sadler a prosecutor. In 2015, he starred in an episode of the crime series Schuld after Ferdinand von Schirach , produced by Oliver Berben . In the 2017 children's film Wendy - The Film , which is based on the horse magazine Wendy , he played the father of the main character. He played one of the leading roles in the 2017 thriller Luna, supported by the German Film Funding Fund .
Benjamin Sadler was in a relationship with actress Isabella Parkinson until 2008 , with whom he has a daughter. He lives in Berlin.
