The aged Roman Emperor Augustus reminisces about his life.

He, Julius Caesar's favorite nephew , had managed to cleanse Rome of his uncle's murderers and to secure an era of peace for the people.

But he also had to fight fights privately. His daughter Julia has fallen in love with Iullus, a man who secretly wants to kill Augustus.
