Wendy - The film is a German children's film from 2017 based on the horse magazine Wendy . 2018 followed Wendy 2 - friendship forever .

action

During the summer holidays, 12-year-old Wendy and her parents move to her grandmother Herta's “Rosenborg”, which is a little old. The equestrian farm competes with a much more modern farm called “St. Georg ”, which is very close by and is run by Ulrike Immhof.

Wendy had once been a keen rider, but had a serious accident and since then has not dared to ride a horse. However, after she runs into the wounded horse Dixie, who was cut off by the butcher, Wendy develops a friendship with him, which might even be useful for the Rosenborg farm.

The film is based on the weekly horse magazine Wendy and was directed by Dagmar Seume . The child actress Jule Hermann can be seen in the main role . The horse Larimar, which was already in front of the camera in the film Ostwind 2 , was used for the horse Dixie .

From June 14, 2016, the shooting took place mainly at Gut Asperschlag near the North Rhine-Westphalian district town of Bergheim .

The film was released in theaters on January 26, 2017.

The film received rather negative reviews from critics. As of July 20, 2017, 610,924 people had seen the film - making it 3rd among the most successful German films in 2017.

"Despite ambitious camera work and familiar target group issues, the main problem is the description of the feelings between humans and four-legged friends, whereby actually quite exciting threads are handled too succinctly."
