Jan Kromschröder (2015)

Jan Kromschröder (born May 22, 1962 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German journalist and television producer . From 2008 to 2014 he was the managing director of ITV Studios Germany . Since October 2014 he has been a partner at Bantry Bay Productions and its sister company Seapoint Productions in Cologne. He is also a professor at the Babelsberg State Film University in Potsdam.

Life

Kromschröder studied Romance studies at the University of Hamburg until he reached the intermediate diploma. Then he began training at the German School of Journalism in Munich. He became an editor at Stern in Hamburg. There he initially worked in the special topics and personalities department , later in the modern life department . He was then deputy editor-in-chief of Tempo magazine until 1992 .

Kromschröder then worked in television . As editor-in-chief at the private television broadcaster Premiere , he was responsible for the development of the entertainment program "showbiz 93" . From 1994 to 1998 Kromschröder worked for Trebitsch Holding , first as a producer within the subsidiary T-1 in New York and Hamburg, then as managing director of Real-Film in Cologne. Until the end of 2000, Kromschröder was head of the TV movies department at the private broadcaster RTL , then head of fiction at SAT.1 .

In 2003, Kromschröder founded the production company Kromschröder und Pfannenschmidt GmbH together with screenwriter Christian Pfannenschmidt . One worked with the concept of the Executive Producer , which is widespread in the USA , in which co-producers are involved in the development of films and series, with their content support, implementation and marketing - all areas of production. This is how the television film series Der Schwarzwaldhof and the TV drama Willkommen bei HOME came about .

In 2008 Kromschröder took over the management of Granada Produktion für Film- und Fernsehen GmbH , a subsidiary of the British ITV plc , which specializes in shows and docutainment formats. He expanded the portfolio to include fictional formats, and later to include show and docutainment formats and journalistic programs. At the same time, the Kromschröder and Pfannenschmidt GmbH was partly taken over by Granada. Due to the renaming of the parent company, the name of the company changed to ITV Studios Germany GmbH in 2011 . Their TV series The Last Bull was awarded the German TV Prize for Best Series in 2012. On July 16, 2014, Christiane replaced Ruff Kromschröder as managing director of ITV Studios Germany. Jan Kromschröder has been a partner in Bantry Bay Productions in Cologne since October 2014 . He was responsible for Bantry Bay Productions . a. the Weinberg series for the pay TV station TNT Serie and Club der rote Bänder , the first fictional in-house production of the station VOX . Both productions were nominated for the German Television Award 2016 in the Best Series category. In December, the media magazine DWDL.de named Jan Kromschröder and Gerda Müller as "TV climbers 2015".

Kromschröder taught at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy on TV production. In 2005 he was a senior lecturer in the series production course (together with Joachim Kosack). In 2007, he was offered a call to today's Babelsberg Film University "Konrad Wolf" in Potsdam-Babelsberg as a professor for creative production in the film and television production course .

In addition, Kromschröder trained as an executive coach at Lorenz Consulting . In this capacity, he supports and advises executives to better meet the complex requirements of corporate management. He wants to focus his work on the targeted personality development of the manager: "The job of the producer is a permanent challenge: You have to be able to withstand pressure and also be able to distribute it - both within humane limits - that is the difficult and the exciting."
