My mother wants a grandchild is a German television film by Jurij Neumann from 2020. It is the fourth part of the film series Meine Mutter ... with Diana Amft , Stephan Luca and Margarita Broich in the leading roles.

action

Although the country inn owned by 'Toni' and Rufus is doing very well, Rufus has not given up on getting his gourmet star back, which he had accidentally been denied. That is why he has registered for the congress of star chefs in Madeira and leaves his wife alone for a week in the "copper jug". However, this time she doesn't have much help from her mother because she is about to open her pension. Rufus has barely left when the young girl Mia appears at the inn and wishes to see Rufus van Berg. Toni's mother is a little irritated because Mia is acting quite strangely. The confusion is perfect when Mia's mother appears, who is already looking for her daughter. Annette Olearius explains that she was Rufus' former girlfriend and Mia wanted to finally get to know her father, which is why the girl had set out on her own. Mia is autistic and what she puts on her mind is difficult to talk her out of. But Annette Olearius also has her own ideas and is of the opinion that Rufus could now take care of his 15-year-old daughter because she has to go abroad for work. Even if Toni doesn't see this at all, her mother decides that her granddaughter can stay in her pension. Since the girl has a very special mental relationship with the dog Bolko due to her talent, she should then take care of the animal. Toni does not at all agree with her mother's unauthorized decision and even at the ceremonial opening of the pension the next day, Heide also doubts her decision, because Mia brings the reception to an end prematurely with her strange behavior. Unfortunately, Mia is not of any help in the kitchen either, as she takes every arrangement literally. When she goes for a walk with Bolko out of spite, she comes back without him. Apparently he didn't want to come back because he didn't like the aggressive atmosphere in the house. Toni is beside herself and after the animal is found, she orders Mia to be arrested. Heidi tries to cheer up her daughter and both agree that they have to find the right way to deal with Mia. Toni still finds it difficult. Whenever she tries to improve her relationship with Mia, it regularly fails. Gradually, however, she realizes that Mia is not a burden for her, but an opportunity to rediscover, understand and accept life's problems. So she includes Mia in the kitchen work and gives her tasks that she understands and can cope with. Funnily enough, she not only cuts the vegetables for the salad into beautiful even pieces, but also arranges them neatly next to each other.

When Rufus returns, Mia can finally meet her father. Toni had already prepared him for his daughter over the phone and he is quite confused by her directness. Mia's mother also comes back to pick up her daughter. Since she also meets Rufus, the two get into a violent argument. Mia is so annoyed by this that she just takes Rufus' car and drives away. Toni's mother had told her about a lake and she would like to see it now. Toni, Rufus, Heidi and Annette rush after her and get her back. Happy that everything turned out so lightly, Rufus is ready to face his responsibility. In order to get to know his daughter better, Mia should now come and visit him more often.

Subplot

Toni's ex-boyfriend HaJü tries desperately to get his job back in the country inn, but Rufus had refused because he said he was complicit in the fight at his wedding. So he tries his luck with Toni and Heidi. In order to be able to work again, he uses a ruse and secretly turns the light bulbs on the terrace in the pension area. His plan works and he can come back. HaJü still hopes to win back Toni's heart.

Gangloff evaluated for Tittelbach.tv and said: While the third part “looked like a sauce that was initially delicious, but after being warmed up several times with too much water”, “Pfannenschmidt succeeded in increasing the quality again with the fourth film.” But "even if the fourth part seems more coherent overall and the young Linda Stockfleth does her job very well: the dramaturgy of the stories is just as simple as the implementation reminiscent of the tabloid theater."
