My mother ... is a German TV film series on ARD that focuses on the owners of a country inn that was accidentally awarded a Michelin star .

action

The country inn "Kupferkanne" was accidentally awarded a gourmet star . In order to correct that, the owner Antonia Janssen goes to Cologne and meets the star chef Rufus von Berg, whose star from a restaurant with the same name has unexpectedly been revoked and who is also hoping to make amends. However, since this does not go as quickly as hoped and the two ultimately fall in love, Rufus gives up his restaurant and moves with his kitchen team to Toni in the Eifel. Here they now run the restaurant together as a crossover between star cuisine and home-style cooking.

The initial joy of working together gradually gives way to the daily hustle and bustle. Toni feels more and more displaced by Rufus in the kitchen. Since her mother won a competition, she and her take on a wellness weekend. Toni's mother meets Rufus' former employee, for whom she had sympathy from the first moment, and fatally lends him money for an investment.

Toni and Rufus have decided to get married. Rufus' parents travel in advance to see their future daughter-in-law. Rufus' mother does not seem to Toni to be the right woman for her son and so she does everything to make Toni bad at Rufus. He sticks to his bride unbroken, but cannot prevent the first marriage date from falling through his mother's fault and everything ending in a wild brawl in the church.

After Toni and Rufus managed to get married, Toni's mother would like to have a grandchild. This wish comes true faster than expected, because all of a sudden a former friend of Rufus turns up and leaves her 15-year-old daughter in Toni's mother's newly opened guesthouse. The slightly autistic girl went to look for her father alone, but her mother, who is very busy at work, fits this short-term placement very well into her plan. After initial difficulties, Toni and Rufus get along with the girl and hope that she will come to visit her more often.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from Tittelbach.tv assessed: "While other ARD Degeto comedies or drama are more interested in the everyday life of the characters ( grandpa becomes dad ) and occasionally social issues ( Hotel Heidelberg ) or values-specific ( Billy Kuckuck ) flow into these entertainment productions, so in [this series] only private matters are important, and dramaturgically the well-known patterns dominate here.
