Spuk aus der Gruft was the fourth children's series from the "Spuk" series. With it, screenwriter Claus-Ulrich Wiesner and director Günter Meyer tied in with the successes of their predecessors Spuk under the Ferris wheel , Spook in the skyscraper and Spook from outside .

“I don't want to rot in my grave if I committed the murder of the shepherd Dühn,” the young Friedrich Freiherr von Kuhlbanz swore when he died almost 300 years ago. He is cursed beyond death and became a legend as the mummy of Roggelin. One night the girl Maja faces him in person during a test of courage. Maja decides, despite all warnings, to prove Friedrich's innocence after Friedrich von Kuhlbanz was able to win her over with his enigmatic, sad story.

The story goes back to the legend of " Knight Kahlbutz ", who can be viewed as a mummy in the Kampehl district of the Brandenburg town of Neustadt (Dosse) . Much of the series was filmed in the Brandenburg village of plays . The series was continued in the series Spuk im Reich der Schatten .

In Icestorm Entertainment appeared spook from the Crypt , Ghost in the realm of shadows and haunting at the gate of the time in 2010 as a trilogy together in one box.
