Alles Isy (alternative title: Lange Schatten ) is a German family drama by the writer and director duo Mark Monheim and Max Eipp .

action

16-year-old Jonas is in love with his best friend Isy, but she has had an older boyfriend for a few days. When Isy takes drugs at a party and loses control while intoxicated, Jonas and his friends (the unpredictable Lenny and fellow traveler Martin) first make fun of her. But then the situation escalates and the three boys rape the unconscious girl. Since Isy cannot remember, the deed has no consequences. While Isy's mother gradually comes to suspect that her daughter was raped, Jonas, who deeply regrets the act, confides in his parents. This confession plunges the two families who were friends into an existential crisis.

production

Was produced All Isy by Florian Deyle (Drife film production) on behalf of rbb (Editors: Cooky Ziesche , Verena Veihl). Eva Kemme and Tobias Siebert (Basis Berlin Filmproduktion) acted as executive producers. The script for the film, which was originally planned as a feature film, was funded by the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern . The shooting took place in Berlin in summer 2017.

The world premiere took place in July 2018 at the Munich Film Festival in the series Neues Deutsches Fernsehen .

reception

The Emden Screenplay Prize jury, which was appointed in cooperation with the Grimme Institute, praised the precise representation of the young characters:

“The book impresses with its precise exploration and research observation of a phase of life. The characters jump on us in their emotional dynamics, and they bring us close to the emergency situation in life history; the pedagogical index finger is not lifted here. Rather, the difficult path of adolescents is accompanied with great empathy. The dialogues, at the same time close to everyday life and young people, draw us into the dramatic story and give us the feeling of being part of it. [...] It's not a comfortable film that passes our inner eye, but an unreasonable story that worries us in the best sense of the word. "

Reviews

The television film received positive reviews in the press. For the FAZ , Alles Isy was “one of the most important family films of this year.” The Süddeutsche Zeitung emphasized the “closeness to reality” as a strength of the film. The world praised “consistency and intensity” and described Alles Isy as a “rare case of a coherent design perfectly implemented on all levels and in all trades”. Rainer Tittelbach rated the film as "extremely coherent down to the last detail", the Tagesspiegel as "extraordinary", the Berliner Zeitung as a "sensitive discussion of a taboo subject" and the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung as an "intensely played, complex relationship drama that has an impact". The achievements of the young actors were particularly praised. The Stuttgarter Zeitung wrote that the actors were “perfectly selected and superbly managed by Eipp and Monheim”. The Badische Zeitung highlighted Milena Tscharntke and Michelangelo Fortuzzi, who “master their difficult roles with flying colors”. Numerous critics were of the opinion that the film should be shown and discussed in schools.

Julian Miller, on the other hand, judged the film critically on quotenmeter.de and described Alles Isy as "not just a bad, but even terrifyingly callous film".

The first broadcast of Alles Isy on September 5, 2018 was seen by 3.84 million viewers in Germany and achieved a market share of 14.3% for Das Erste .
