The Jenke Experiment (subtitle: He really does it ) was a documentary film series on the German television broadcaster RTL , in which the extra reporter Jenke von Wilmsdorff tried out social issues such as alcohol abuse and poverty on his own.

history

After Jenke von Wilmsdorff moderated the section Das Jenke-Experiment in the RTL program Extra - Das RTL-Magazin , in which, among other things, he demonstrated the consequences of weeks of malnutrition or took on the role of a single mother for a week, considerations arose, to make your own show out of it.

On March 11, 2013, the first season of the RTL documentary series Das Jenke-Experiment began broadcasting . There von Wilmsdorff undertook four self-experiments on the subjects of alcohol abuse, poverty, life as a woman and old age. In the episode, life as a woman had Daniela Katzenberger a guest appearance.

From March 17, 2014, the second season of Das Jenke-Experiment ran in four episodes about drugs ( marijuana ), a life in a wheelchair, death and disabilities. In contrast to the first season, the audience was included in the selection of the topics, and they could submit topic suggestions via the Internet.

A third season with four other episodes started in February 2015. These episodes dealt with the topics of stress, body cult, factory farming and organ donation.

In autumn 2016, a fourth season was broadcast, which again consisted of four experiments and went into production from December 2015. The topics covered are hard drugs (like LSD ), solitary confinement, dementia, and extreme hunger.

Another episode aired at 8:15 p.m. in October 2018. It deals with Wilmsdorffs' nicotine addiction and documents his attempts to give up smoking.
