Elseid Gëzim Hysaj (born February 2, 1994 in Shkodra ) is an Albanian football player who is under contract with the Italian first division club SSC Napoli and is a right-back in the senior national team .

Career

Hysaj began playing football in the youth departments of the clubs KF Shkodra and KF Vllaznia Shkodër , from the northern Albanian city of the same name . In 2009 he left the club, which was renamed FK Vllaznia Shkodër in 2008. Arrived in Italy at the age of 14 , completed training sessions at various clubs and in 2009 received a licensed player contract for the youth team with FC Empoli . After three seasons, he moved up to the first team for the 2011/12 season . After he was part of the squad on October 9, 2011 (9th matchday) in the 1: 2 defeat in the home game against AS Varese 1910 , he made his senior league debut in the 2012/13 season , on October 20, 2012 ( 10th matchday), in the 3-0 victory in the second division encounter with SS Virtus Lanciano . When his team won away, he was substituted on for Andrea Cristiano in the 67th minute. Against this team he scored in the following season , in which he played 32 of 42 league games, on April 17, 2014 (35th matchday) in the 1: 2 away defeat, with the opening goal in the fourth minute, his first goal in the senior division.

As a runner-up , he rose with the team at the end of the season in Serie A , developed into a top performer over the course of the season and thus contributed to staying up . He made his debut on August 31, 2014 (1st matchday) in the 0-2 defeat in the away game against Udinese Calcio over 90 minutes.

For the 2015/16 season he was signed by league competitor SSC Napoli , who contracted him until 2020.

National team

Hysaj made his debut on February 6, 2013 in the senior national team , which lost 2-1 in a test international against the selection of Georgia in Tirana .

In the UEFA EURO 2016 in France, he was in the Albanian contingent added. In all three tournament games he was part of the regular team and played all games for the full playing time. After the group stage, the European Championship was over despite a victory for the team.
