Piotr Sebastian Zieliński (born May 20, 1994 in Ząbkowice Śląskie ) is a Polish football player . He has been under contract with SSC Napoli since the 2016/17 season .
Career
societies
Piotr Zieliński began his football career in the city of Ząbkowice Śląskie , which is about 65 km south of Wroclaw . In 2007 he moved to the youth department of Zagłębie Lubin . For the 2011/12 season he was committed by the Italian first division club Udinese Calcio for its youth department. Under coach Francesco Guidolin he made his debut on November 2, 2012 (15th matchday) in a 4-1 win in the home game of the first division team against Cagliari Calcio with a substitute for Antonio Di Natale in stoppage time.
For the 2014/15 season he was loaned out to league rivals FC Empoli for a year . Here Zieliński was a regular player and played 28 point games. The loan deal with FC Empoli was extended for another year.
For the season 2016/17 it required the Napoli . The Pole prevailed there and has been a regular player ever since. In August 2020, he extended his contract until 2024.
National team
He made his debut for the senior national team on June 4, 2013 in a 2-0 win against Liechtenstein . Then he played five competitive games in the World Cup qualification. He scored his first international goal on August 14, 2013 in a 3-2 win in the international test match against Denmark with the goal of the final score in the 61st minute. In a 5-1 win in the World Cup qualifier against San Marino on September 10, 2013, he scored two goals.
After missing the qualification, Zieliński was initially used again in the junior division, but played in 2015 in the European Championship qualification against Gibraltar . He was appointed to the Polish squad for the 2016 European Championships in France . His only appearance was in the third group game against Ukraine, when it was all about placement. He was instead of Jakub Błaszczykowski on the starting line-up and was substituted for him at half time.
At the 2018 World Cup in Russia, he was part of the Polish squad . He was used in all group games and retired with the team after the group stage.
Others
His two older brothers Paweł (professional for the Polish first division club Miedź Legnica ) and Tomasz (plays for the Polish fifth division team Bielawianka Bielawa ) are also football players.
