SG Unterrath
Amin Younes was born as the son of a former Lebanese soccer player and a German mother in Düsseldorf and grew up in the immediate vicinity of a sports field in the Unterrath district in the north of the city. Together with his older brother Philipp, Younes started playing football at SG Unterrath .
Borussia Monchengladbach
On July 1, 2000, he and his brother Philipp moved to the youth department of Borussia Mönchengladbach . Here he went through all the youth teams and was part of the U17 squad, which reached the semi-finals of the German B-Junior Championship in 2009 and failed there at the eventual champions VfB Stuttgart . For the second team of Borussia, he made his debut in senior football against FC Schalke 04 II on February 12, 2011 . He scored his first goal in Regionalliga West on September 17, 2011. On April 1, 2012, Younes made his first appearance in the first Bundesliga when he was in the away game against Hannover 96 (1: 2) in the 84th minute for Tony Jantschke was substituted on. On December 6, 2012, he made his European debut on the final day of the UEFA Europa League group stage against Fenerbahçe Istanbul . Seven minutes after being substituted on, he dribbled the goal to make it 3-0. On February 24, 2013 (23rd match day) he made his debut in the starting line-up and scored his first Bundesliga goal in a 1-1 draw in the home game against Borussia Dortmund . This was followed by nine more appearances in the Bundesliga and one in the UEFA Europa League at Lazio Rome by the end of the season . In the 2013/14 season he was always in the Borussia squad, if not injured. In total, he was used 14 times, always as a substitute.
1. FC Kaiserslautern
Due to the desire for more match practice, Borussia let him move to the 2nd Bundesliga for 1. FC Kaiserslautern on loan without an option to buy until the end of the 2014/15 season . For 1. FC Kaiserslautern, Younes made his debut as a substitute on August 24, 2014 in a 2-1 home win over Eintracht Braunschweig . After another brief assignment, he was out for about a month with a muscle injury. After the injury break, he played two games as a substitute in order to start for 1. FC Kaiserslautern for the first time on October 28, 2014 in the 2-0 home win in the second round of the DFB Cup against league rivals SpVgg Greuther Fürth . The use in this game was also the first game of his career in the DFB Cup . In the 2-0 defeat at FC Ingolstadt on December 14, 2014 , Younes received the first red card of his career. After the winter break, coach Kosta Runjaic Younes made three short appearances as a substitute in the second half of the season and three times for the second team of 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the Regionalliga Südwest . Younes initially returned to Borussia Mönchengladbach in accordance with the contract in summer 2015.
Ajax Amsterdam
During the preparation for the 2015/16 season , Younes left Borussia on July 16, 2015 and moved to the Dutch capital for the Eredivisie club Ajax Amsterdam . He signed a three-year contract with the Dutch club. He missed the first games in the Eredivisie as well as the games for qualifying for the UEFA Champions League and the subsequent play-offs for the UEFA Europa League due to injury. Over a few appearances for Jong Ajax , the second team of Ajax Amsterdam in the second-rate Jupiler League , he fought his way back to the licensed team and became a regular there.
Younes made his debut for the Ajax professional team on September 17, 2015 in the UEFA Europa League in a 2-2 draw against traditional Scottish club Celtic Glasgow . On September 23, 2015 he played for the first time in the KNVB-Pokal , the Dutch club cup, in a 2-0 home win over BV De Graafschap . Three days later he played for the first time in the Eredivisie when he and his team won 2-0 against FC Groningen . Younes' first goal for Ajax Amsterdam came in his second Eredivisie game against PSV Eindhoven . In the 2016/17 season he reached the final in the Europa League with Ajax Amsterdam and lost there to Manchester United . In March 2018, Younes refused to come on for the game against SC Heerenveen because he thought it was unnecessary. He was then removed from the squad and until his contract ended at the end of the season transferred to the second team, for which he was used once this season and was champion of the Eerste Divisie .
SSC Naples
In February 2018, the Italian first division club SSC Napoli announced that Younes had signed a contract valid from July 1, 2018, which had already been submitted to the league. He denied this, whereupon the club threatened legal action if Younes did not start his contract on July 1. Younes is said to have signed a contract with VfL Wolfsburg , which the club would have terminated in May 2018 due to concerns about Younes' contract dispute with SSC Napoli. At the beginning of July 2018, Serie A announced Younes as a new addition to SSC Napoli. After suffering an Achilles tendon rupture at the end of June, he then completed his rehab in the club. In December 2018, Younes was then used for the first time in Serie A. Under head coach Carlo Ancelotti , twelve more missions followed in the 2018/19 season , in which he scored three goals. In the following year, there was no getting around Hirving Lozano for the man from Düsseldorf , who was regularly considered by both Ancelotti and his successor Gennaro Gattuso . Younes scored a goal in eleven mostly short appearances, and in the spring he won the Coppa Italia with Napoli .
National team
Amin Younes went through all youth teams of the German Football Association . In total, he was used 45 times for the German junior national teams and scored ten goals. Younes played 18 times for the U21s and scored three goals. At the U21 European Championship in 2015 in the Czech Republic , he became a regular under U21 coach Horst Hrubesch . In the group game against Denmark's U21s , he was voted player of the game.
On May 17, 2017, Younes was nominated by national coach Joachim Löw to join the German national team for the FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia in summer 2017 . He made his international debut on June 6, 2017 in Brøndby in a 1-1 draw against Denmark . He is the first Eredivisie player in the German national team. In his second game, the World Cup qualifier against San Marino in Nuremberg (7-0) on June 10, 2017, he scored his first international goal with the goal to make it 4-0. In the semi-final match of the Confederations Cup against Mexico, Younes scored the 4-1 as a substitute in the 91st minute. He was used twice in the tournament and won the title on July 2, 2017 with a 1-0 final victory for the team against Chile .
