Kosta Runjaic (born June 4, 1971 in Vienna ) is a German football coach . He coaches the Polish first division club Pogoń Stettin .

Life

Runjaic, whose parents come from Yugoslavia , was born in Vienna in 1971 and grew up in Rüsselsheim , where he graduated from high school . He is married and has three children.

Career as a coach

After two years as a base coach of the DFB, he became the coach of the second team at 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 2004 . In 2006 he first moved to SV Wehen Wiesbaden as a youth coach , where he was given responsibility for the second team after a year. With this he rose in 2008 from the Oberliga Hessen to the Regionalliga Süd .

In 2008 he became assistant coach for third division club VfR Aalen under Jürgen Kohler and after his resignation he became interim coach for a game. He remained assistant coach under Kohler's successor Petrik Sander .

In March 2010 he succeeded Živojin Juškić at the then relegation-threatened regional league team SV Darmstadt 98 and achieved the desired relegation. Due to the sporting success in the following season, his contract was extended in March 2011 to June 2012. With a winning streak lasting nine games, the foundation stone for promotion to the 3rd division was laid.

On September 3, 2012 Runjaic moved to the second division MSV Duisburg as the successor to the dismissed head coach Oliver Reck . He signed a contract until June 30, 2014. Kosta Runjaic, who had taken over MSV Duisburg in last place in the table, managed to stabilize the team and save the club from relegation. After Duisburg's forced relegation to the third division at the end of the 2012/13 season, caused by economic problems , Runjaic left the club at his own request.

From September 16, 2013 he was head coach of the second division team of 1. FC Kaiserslautern. He succeeded the dismissed Franco Foda and the interim coach Oliver Schäfer, who jumped in for two games . After a bad start to the 2015/16 season with only two wins from eight games, he resigned on September 23, 2015.

Runjaic trained from the season 2016/17 the TSV 1860 Munich . On November 22, 2016, he was given leave of absence.

On November 6, 2017, Runjaic was introduced as the new coach of Pogoń Szczecin .
