Łukasz Załuska [ ˈwukaʂ zaˈwuska ] (born June 16, 1982 in Wysokie Mazowieckie , Poland ) is a Polish football player . The goalkeeper is under contract with Pogoń Szczecin from the 2017/18 season .

Club career

Poland

Załuska's first professional station was Stomil Olsztyn from 2001 to 2002 . Here he made his debut in the Ekstraklasa (1st League of Poland). At that time he was considered one of Poland's greatest goalkeeping talents. After the season he was signed by the top Polish club Legia Warsaw . However, he was only number three at Legia behind Artur Boruc and Łukasz Fabiański . After two years of apprenticeship at Legia Warsaw (where he was only used in the cup) Załuska moved in 2004 to the 2nd division to Jagiellonia Białystok . Here he alternated with the older goalkeeper Andrzej Olszewski . In 2005 he was signed by Korona Kielce . Here he finally advanced to the goalkeeper and rose with the club in the Ekstraklasa. Also in the first division he was a regular goalkeeper at Korona Kielce.

Scotland

Because of his good performance, the Scottish club Dundee United became aware of him and signed him. Here he was able to secure the regular place in goal straight away and was one of the best goalkeepers in the Scottish Premier League . After signing a preliminary contract in December 2008, he moved to Celtic Glasgow on a free transfer at the beginning of the 2009/10 season . At Celtic , however, Załuska was only a substitute goalkeeper, initially behind his compatriot Artur Boruc followed by Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon . At the end of the 2014/15 season , the substitute goalkeeper's contract was not renewed after six years of membership in the club. With Celtic , the Pole won the Scottish Championship four times, twice the Cup and once the League Cup .

Germany

After a brief absence from a club, Załuska signed a contract as the third goalkeeper behind Christian Mathenia and Patrick Platins at SV Darmstadt 98 after a trial session in August 2015 . There he made his debut on May 14, 2016, the last matchday of the 2015/16 season, in a 2-0 home defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach .

Return to Poland

For the 2016/2017 season he moved to his homeland in Poland , where he played 28 league games for Wisła Krakow . For the 2017/2018 season, Łukasz Załuska moved to league competitor Pogoń Szczecin , where he signed for 2 years.

National team

In 2008 he was nominated for the first time for the Polish national team by national coach Leo Beenhakker . He made his debut in the friendly international match against South Africa on June 6, 2009.
