Qualification for
UEFA Europa League
The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 128th time in 2012/13 . The Scottish Cup competition, officially held as the William Hill Scottish Cup and run by the Scottish Football Association, began on August 4, 2012 and ended with the final on May 26, 2013 in Glasgow's Hampden Park . Defending champion was Heart of Midlothian , who prevailed in the final against Hibernian Edinburgh in the Edinburgh Derby last year . The cup winner or finalist was eligible for the following play-off round of the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League . The clubs of the Scottish Premier League entered the 4th round of the cup. At the beginning of the competition, four teams played against each other in a so-called preliminary round to qualify for the first round. With a 3-0 final win against Hibernian Edinburgh, Celtic Glasgow was able to make the double of championship and cup perfect. The record cup winner won with a brace from Gary Hooper and a goal from Joe Ledley . Hibernian thus conceded the second final defeat in a row, with which the club had been waiting for a cup win since 1902 .
